American Idol Curtis Finch "Church" Singer Questionable

Here's the deal: Curtis Finch, one of the contestants just picked on American Idol is supposedly a church singer who grew up singing in the church. While he is outdoubtedly talented with a great voice, his "church" upbringing surely didn't teach him the Golden Rule.

While working with a group, one of the member got sick and couldn't practice. Curtis couldn't be bothered and made it plainly clear: This was all about him and no one else. As long as he could do well, that was all that mattered.

Clearly a competiton mindset, but certainly not a Christian mindset. The reason we bring it up: Don't act all churchy-perfect if you didn't learn a darn thing about how to treat your fellow man!

We'll be watching to see if his DIVA attitude improves. Dear Curtis, likeability is a key factor on this show and while we may like your voice, we don't like you right now. Prove us wrong.

And what's with Nicki Minaj and her "I'm obsessesed with you" phrase she says to every male (or nearly every male) as long as he is pretty. She's got a bit of a Simon fixation -- remember how he only thought little blonde girls would go through and be contenders in the beginning? Ruben and Clay made that stupid mindset go away. Please Nicki, grow up. Look beyond the immediate and tone it down. This is a family show and besides that we don't have a family and still don't want to hear it.

Dr. Phil Interviews Kidnapped Boy...Too Soon?

The Boy in the Bunker: The Exclusive Interview with Ethan and His Mother

Did you catch this? I couldn't believe it was on so soon and of all things...on TV. This poor mom and kid need serious help and although I do feel he dealt with it sensitively and consulted with Dr. Lawless, another expert, it was just a blatant ratings grab.

Are we really this in need of ratings to insult not only us, the viewer, but also the victims so quickly and at such a fragile time?

I watched it and thought the mom had some great questions but the interview (if you could call it that) with the child was ill-timed and useless. I guess it's good that they'll get help given by the good TV doc, but still...

The 80s Called: They want their lips back

Have you noticed the trend in bright, I'm talking super bright Nicki Minaj, lips?

I also noticed a commercial for (Cover Girl, Maybelline...one of those) promoting their new line of bright lipsticks.

Girls, take it from someone who has been there, done that: If you're over 25 or don't have lips to speak of, avoid this trend. Super bright lips don't work on you unless you're so young you almost look like you're playing dress up (with mom's bright red lipstick), you're super trendy and you have luscious full lips.

Slashing this on thin lips will make them look even thinner. Also, if you're lips are super full, they will be magnified and you'll look like you're all lips (you may be into that look).

Nicki can handle this as she is young, super costume/trendy and has full lips. Most of the rest of us will just look like clowns.

The View: Dating Author Confuses Everyone

This post is about The View and some of their guests, namely Amy Webb, author of a new dating book who was just on this week. Does anyone actually sit and interview these folks before they come on to make sure they are "TV ready" or does a publicist just submit them and they get on with assumptions they know how to present their wares?

Either way, this guest was, umm, let's say irritating and confusing. Her book, while probably a perfectly fine book on dating, may not have benefitted as much as it could have from this appearance. Ms. Webb was prone to using the term "reverse engineering" when describing her new-found dating technique. Now, I only understand this term (which elicits yawns from non-engineering types) because my hubby is an engineer.

She also loves terms like "data" and "analytics" and the like. Whoopie looked utterly confused (I think she even threw her arms up in the air and exclaimed WHAT?) as did the rest of the panel. The author also seems to think she is the new "online dating prom queen." Say what now?

I do understand what this author is talking about, however I sincerely doubt all of the audience that day caught it. Not because I'm any brighter; again, my husband is an engineer. Regardless, sorry to say, I was almost as confused as everyone else listening that day.

Michael Kors rant: GO YOUNGER on Project Runway

What is it about Michael Kors and his constant rant to "GO YOUNGER" on Project Runway?

Here's the thing Michael:

You're a good designer and we love you, but who do you think is buying your stuff? 20 year olds? I think it's probably closer to 35 and up, and that is because unless you're born into money or very lucky, you don't have any to buy great fashion until you're at least in your late 20s.

I do like youthful looks, but really, the rant to GO YOUNGER is a bit much all the time. You're sitting on a panel of over 40 year old women (Heidi and Nina) and often your guest judge is over 40, so WHAT?

Why don't Heidi and Nina ever protest? "Stay on the youthful side in your designs" is a better comment. GO YOUNGER (and yes, you say this a LOT), is not appropriate. The MOB comment (you love this one) is closer to true. It's usually a frumpy, mature look. I think we're all good with that.

Unless you are a hot fashionable MOB. Then, no.

JMO!

Modern Take on Wearing Turquoise Jewelry -- Heidi Klum

Wearing turquoise can be iffy. I love it, but worn with denim or the typical Southwestern styles can be costumey and dated.

Heidi Klum wears this beautiful turquoise number over a nude tank. It really pops and look modern.

Mary J. Blige a Fashion Miss on The View

I've got to say no on this:
2viewI love both Angela Basset and Mary J Blige, but what? Angela came out looking fierce (she is gorgeous) and Mary J. her 2nd grade teacher.

Sorry, but the look was weak and not nearly her style (in my opinion). Beside this, she is a true talent, so that's what matters. Angela's hair is awesome. She really looks great in short hair!

Hot Mama: Patricia Heaton's Hairstyle

Critics' Choice Television Awards LuncheonGiven her moppy and frumpy look on The Middle, Patricia Heaton is hot with this hairstyle. Not sure if this is new or not, but it’s hot.
